Jembrana\u2019s Ijo Gading River is Bali\u2019s largest ocean plastic contributor, accounting for 12% of the province\u2019s total ocean plastics leakage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Alliance\u2019s three-year collaboration with Project STOP aimed to create a zero-leakage plastic waste system in Jembrana, and included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Conducting diagnostic studies to understand how and why plastic waste enters the environment and designing a new, tailored system to combat it<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Building and supplying solid waste management equipment to scale up collection and sorting efforts<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Hiring local people at living wages and responsible working conditions to manage and staff the new waste management system<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Partnering with community NGOs to encourage behaviour change at the community level through awareness and educational programs so more people fully utilize the waste management and recycling system that is being created to dispose of waste.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Cleaning up beaches and rivers in consultation with the local government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n\n\t<div  class=\"vc_col-sm-6 wpb_column column_container vc_column_container col padding-1-percent\"   data-t-w-inherits=\"default\" data-shadow=\"none\" data-border-radius=\"none\" data-border-animation=\"\" data-border-animation-delay=\"\" data-border-width=\"none\" data-border-style=\"solid\" data-border-color=\"\" data-bg-cover=\"\" data-padding-pos=\"left\" data-has-bg-color=\"false\" data-bg-color=\"\" data-bg-opacity=\"1\" data-hover-bg=\"\" data-hover-bg-opacity=\"1\" data-animation=\"\" data-delay=\"0\"><div class=\"column-bg-overlay\"><\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\r\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \" >\r\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The aim of the Alliance and Project STOP was to dramatically improve waste collection in Jembrana, bring waste collection for the first time to households, create new, permanent local jobs in the waste management industry, and clean up the waste that already exists in Jembrana. This project was designed to become economically self-sufficient, where the system could be fully operated by local government and communities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0In June 2023 Project STOP Jembrana was fully handed over to the local regency government.<\/p>\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n\t\t<div id=\"fws_69e7091d6d9b8\"  data-midnight=\"dark\"  data-bg-mobile-hidden=\"\" class=\"wpb_row vc_row-fluid vc_row full-width-content standard_section  vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs \"  style=\"padding-top: 200px;
